Georgie and I were in Plymouth, diving around the Sound and eating seafood and cream teas too!

Sadly our seafood wasn't /that/ fresh from the sea, though - the Sound's a bit too busy for that and we were boat diving not from shore.

The Sheffield Uni SAC has an annual trip to Loch Fyne which is primarily for fresh scallops - that is about the best location in the country I believe. Cornwall is better for mussels IIRC though.

Hazel - you should DEFINITELY learn to dive, assuming if you had already I'd know (?). And we should form an ADCSAC...Stuart Chttp://www.sjcuthbertson.me.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5005488354905105058.post-21742723732740371512010-04-11T17:38:39.089+01:002010-04-11T17:38:39.089+01:00:) Was down in Devon last week picking some up. Best run of seafood has been in Scotland though - we found some muscles that were giant (different species to the ones we normally eat) to go with the scallops.

What are your feelings on lobsters/crabs from the deep?Stumonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5005488354905105058.post-17335633841991840982010-04-11T12:42:35.776+01:002010-04-11T12:42:35.776+01:00Ah, you see, I have masses of tame divers - my mum...Ah, you see, I have masses of tame divers - my mum's an instructor... And I know my brother is teaching his girlfriend to dive JUST so they can pick up scallops. I will insist on some barbecuing... Free diving might work, but the moment you pick up the first one the rest will hide.

Apparently you can eat all seaweed that you find round the UK, if you fancy some veg with your barbecue.Stumonoreply@blogger.com
